As NPOs navigate the funding landscape and changes in legislation that impact compliance, Inyathelo, the South African Institute for Advancement, is a core pillar of reference, guidance, expertise and support to scores of civil society organisations.
Inyathelo hosted an NPO Sustainability Training session at their advancement hub in Woodstock, on Thursday, 20 February 2025. The Institutional Capacity Building (ICB) Unit of the Western Cape Department of Social Development, under the leadership of Sallvon Fransman, led the session on Capacity Building, covering NPO Legal structures and NPO registration as well as NPO Act compliance.
Civil society organisations working among others in youth development, poverty relief, conservation and animal rights, actively participated in this collaborative dialogue to ensure an understanding of best practice, learn from experiences of other organisations and build sustainable relationships within the NPO sector.
The Capacity Building discussion was augmented with bespoke presentations by Inyathelo, covering:
- Beneficial Ownership
- The Fundraising Cycle
- Understanding the Donor World
- Budgeting for Sustainability
“From the level of engagement and interaction, this session and others like it, offer critically important platforms for civil society organisations to benchmark, seek clarity, learn and contribute to the dialogue that takes the sector forward,” said Feryal Domingo, Inyathelo Acting Executive Director.
