Invitation to Funding Practice Alliance provincial meeting

On behalf of the member organisations of the Funding Practice Alliance (FPA) I would like to invite one representative of your organisation to attend a provincial meeting with civil society organisations. We are embarking on provincial roadshows to share the findings of a research study completed in 2016.

Invitation to Funding Practice Alliance provincial meeting

The research was made possible by proceeds from the NLDTF. The main aim of the study was to gain a clearer understanding of:

  •  How the civil society sector is funded
  • How civil society advances South African society through contributing to employment
  •  How civil society contributes to the economy
  • Quantifiable evidence of the economic value of the civil society sector in South Africa

We invite you to join us in conversation about the findings of the research:

* To stimulate debate and raise questions that are pertinent to the sustainability of the civil society,

* To bridge the gap between community based organisations and more established organisations and

* To formulate a collective way in which to address the sustainability challenges confronting civil society organisations currently.

The Funding Practice Alliance (FPA) has been in existence for the past ten years and its main aim is to contribute to the transformation of the relationship between civil society and funding agencies (private, business and state) in order to support and strengthen a vibrant civil society. The Alliance comprises the Social Change Assistance Trust, Inyathelo Institute for Advancement and the Community Development Resource Association.  Past achievements of the FPA include research published as Meeting the Mandates: (S. Benjamin-Lebert and T. Lebert) in 2011 which was used to lobby for changes to be made to the funding practices of the National Development Agency and the National Lotteries Commission.
