Ongoing work in the US-SA HEN programme includes exchange and collaboration between universities in South Africa and the USA and growing the programme by seeking funding support. The exchange programme was impacted by Covid-19, however plans are still in place for visits between the countries now that it is safer to travel, and for virtual exchange.
Inyathelo has also developed a proposal for establishing a baseline on Advancement operations at historically disadvantaged universities. It is currently identifying a lead researcher and prospects for this research.
In a collaboration with the South African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA), SARIMA will focus on university research office capacity development in historically disadvantaged universities. Research grants and technology transfer offices are important sources of additional funding for universities, and it is important that there be a greater understanding of the various ways collaboration occurs between Advancement offices and research offices in universities; and the management of information systems pertaining to grants received by the universities and how these impact on dashboards and management, leadership and oversight responsibilities.
